The internet tells me Oregon gets around 160 days of rain in a year, but it sure feels like a lot more!

The rain has already started up again for fall here in the Willamette Valley, but that just makes us more grateful for the sunny days.

Of course we need all that rain to grow grass seed, which provides screenings, which helps produce feed pellets, so I guess rain or shine it’s a good day.

Did you know Oregon is considered the grass seed capital of the world? 🌎

Oregon supplies 75% of all grass seed world wide, which is a pretty big deal. All of this grass seed farming results in a lot of grass seed screenings, the by-product cleaned from the seed.

Believe it or not, not that long ago this by-product was considered waste, and thrown away. Today, we use screenings as a main ingredient in our cattle and sheep feed, essentially recycling waste and saving the planet! Or at least, keeping lots of cows happy. 🐄

A good portion of this mountain of grass seed screenings will get pelleted into our Cascade feed, and can be found in any Coastal or Wilco store near you.
